Dhan Guru!

God

"O Nanak, if I had hundreds of thousands of stacks of paper, and if I were to read and recite and embrace love for the Lord,
and if ink were never to fail me, and if my pen were able to move like the wind
-even so, I could not estimate Your Value. How can I describe the Greatness of Your Name?"

- Sri Guru Granth Sahib, p.15

p.s.// Today is September 1, the Prakash Divas of Sri Guru Granth Sahib (SGGS). SGGS is the holy book of the Sikhs - it contains "the word" and the word from the Guru is the Guru. It was first compiled and read as a holy book on Sep 1, 1604. To me and millions of other Sikhs (literal meaning - learners), this is the guiding light of our lives. I did not take this picture. But I could not possibly let the day pass without a tribute.

So Happy Birthday to Sri Guru Granth Sahib :) Wishing a blessed year for all!

So finally you are free! Enjoy yourself.
But "happy birthday to baba ji" sounds inapt because:-
ਜਨਮ ਮਰਣ ਦੁਹਹੂ ਮਹਿ ਨਾਹੀ ਜਨ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੀ ਆਏ ॥
Guru Granth sahib is Jugo Jug Atal.:)

I can imagine the enthusiasm in which you wrote the post. But I cannot but point out that as long as Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee Maharaaj is referred to as "Holy Book", it will fail the Sikhs those many times. We have to believe in Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee Maharaaj as Jugo
Jug Atal, Hazaraa Hazoor, Jahara Jahoor, Chavar Takhat Ke Maalik, Dassan Gurooan de Sawroop. We have to believe in Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee Maharaaj as we believe in a living Guru because, the Joyt present in Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee Maharaaj is the same as was in Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Nanak Dev Sahib jee Maharaaj to Dhan Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib jee Maharaaj.

would look more correct if you said SGGS WAS the holy book of the Sikhs - it contains "the word" and the word from the Guru is the Guru now and for ever.

hope to catch up with you soon jio

I just said this on flickr but I'll say it again... I love this... and love you for sharing it.

re: the wording. Yes, Guru ji is our living Guru but I think all of us know through interaction with you that you already understand and that.

It's just about the way a few words happened to fall into the post at this particular point in time.

love,
sat
